The Animals is an American animated television comedy soap opera produced by Procter & Gamble Animation and created by D.A. Nichols for Disney Channel. The show is set in a fictional town called AnimalVille. First broadcast on September 16, 1983, five months after Disney Channel's launch, the show was originally broadcast as half-hour episodes, before expanding to one-hour episodes on January 5, 1990. This is also Disney Channel's longest-running series to date, and the fourth longest-running soap opera airing on a Disney-owned network, behind All My Children, One Life to Live, and General Hospital.
A feature film based on the soap, titled The Animals Movie was released on September 16, 2020.
